It is a difficult realisation… maybe… to accept that religion and Truth are not one. There is a sense of excitement at the possibilities ahead, a feeling of belonging, that comes with joining a new group, whether it is a religion or a sect. If this group is a type of esoteric organisation then maybe we also feel a sense of being at the cutting edge, of being adventurers into the unknown. Our life becomes exciting, at least according to our own opinion.
With academic studies such as Psychology and Parapsychology you can apply to be part of an organisation that establishes evidence for or against things that others do not have the intellect, training or resources to investigate. Of course, other people — non-academics — do have all of those things, and do investigate, but that is the atmosphere inside these institutions, namely one of elitism.
There is belief in a final validity of science with its place in society as “arbiter of truth”. Or at least a belief in the acceptance that this method produces results which may be later contradicted, there is no Truth; there are “facts” that are often later disputed and changed upon further studies, further investigation.
It is understandable on the surface that someone might have the belief: if there is life after death, if there is reincarnation, there would have been evidence for it by now and mainstream science would have accepted it… wouldn’t it?
But there are many reports of life after death, out of body experiences, and reincarnation with evidence, given by highly qualified professionals, that can be found very easily with a few web searches. Mainstream science, however, still holds the “no evidence” position. The reasoning being, apparently, that the “lay investigator” is not trained to scrutinise the evidence and moreover, that it simply does not matter, has no validity, where many investigators who do have the training have left the mainstream and pointed to the evidence for life after death. Essentially, if you wish to adopt a certain position, you can explain away anything in order to maintain it.
There is one particular point which becomes clearer as the technology of AI advances. It is what frightens us about AI, namely, that intelligence will always seek to defend itself when threatened. Or rather not intelligence per se (that speaks of the faculty of reason that arises from a conscious, sentient use of intellect) but rather intellect itself – singularly – the computational brain.
Naturally in circles where intelligence is given pride of place, such as universities, there will always be a re-enforced barrier at the boundary line of the earthly limits. The intellect, controlled by the ego that has burrowed into it, like a parasite, stands guard there not allowing anything to pass that would usurp its authority. For example: a spreading of the realisation of the reality of life after death would shake the pillars of what the intellect has built up of its own apparent absolute infallibility and superiority. The palace of the “sober materialist”.
What then is the measuring rod with which to test Truth? How can we get control back, control back of the intellect?
Perhaps it is the intuition that offers the key to this. The intuition is our true native language, it is given to all of us equally at birth. It does not even require words to speak.
This is not to want to get rid of scientific method or use of intelligence. The more we use this intuition the more we can clarify it and allow it to strengthen. This enables us to measure anything that is offered to us as “truth”.
Ego-intellect grows solely out of the intellect, it is the ego-complex. It has nothing to do with the intuition. Not one single ego-led decision can come from the intuition. It is made too easy for us.
Since we need our intellect on this earth, it is not so easy to uproot the poison-ego planted and rooted deep within, without causing ourselves injury as we try to uproot it. Often we simply fail to do it ourselves and a blow of fate hits us that shakes us and loosens it for a while…
